- Who this is for
- Engineering and computing students, technical staff in manufacturing, and anyone interested in automation and embedded systems.
- What you need first
- Basic programming, ideally Python. Helpful but not required: an Arduino or Raspberry Pi. Everything can be completed in free simulation software if hardware is not available.
What this course sets out to do
- Describe the components of a robotic system and how they interact.
- Explain how sensors and actuators work and where each is appropriate.
- Program simple automated behaviour.
- Explain how computer vision lets a machine interpret what it sees.
- Assess automation proposals realistically, including their effect on workers.
What you will be able to do
- Identify suitable sensors and actuators for a stated task.
- Write control logic including a simple feedback loop.
- Use a vision library to detect objects in an image.
- Describe industrial automation and where it is used in Pakistan.
- Explain what autonomous systems cannot currently do reliably.
- Build and demonstrate a working automated system or simulation.
